The AI risk mitigation protocols were finalized in partnership with the NIST.
The Department of Commerce has released its finalized artificial intelligence (AI) risk mitigation guidances, completing its development with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) after the public comment period. These two documents were released alongside an additional update published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office outlining how to avoid copyright violations while using AI models.
“AI is the defining technology of our generation, so we are running fast to keep pace and help ensure the safe development and deployment of AI,” said Secretary Gina Raimondo. “We’ve made great progress, but have a lot of work ahead. We will keep up the momentum to safeguard America’s role as the global leader in AI.”
